Clark Fork River Rafting

For a fantastic day of Montana whitewater rafting fun look no further than the Alberton Gorge section of the Clark Fork River. This whitewater rafting day trip in Western Montana just outside of Missoula, is a big volume, big ride river with a lot of roller coaster waves, and intermediate (Class II-III) white water rafting. You'll bounce through rapids with names like Boat Eater, Fang, Cliffside, and Tumbleweed on the family-friendly Clark Fork River.

Well isolated from any roads, the Alberton Gorge of the Clark Fork flows through a deep canyon with dramatic rose-colored cliffs. Between the whitewater sections are calm stretches that are perfect for swimming or just sitting back, relaxing, and watching the spectacular mountain scenery pass you by. Warm water and quiet pools between rapids make this a perfect family rafting trip.

When you go rafting on the Clark Fork, you're likely to see dozens of birds, including osprey, mergansers, and, if we're lucky, maybe some Harlequin Ducks. Deer, elk, and beaver are also common. Along the way, our guides will share some of the river's history. Named after William Clark of the Lewis & Clark expedition, the Clark Fork River's headwaters are in the Beaverhead and Rocky Mountains near Butte, Montana, where the Native American tribes called it the 'Arrowhead' River due to a semi-transparent stone found nearby that was used to make arrowheads.

We use 13' paddle rafts on this whitewater rafting day trip, so everyone becomes a participant. Each raft has a professional guide who teaches you how to paddle. As a team, you'll navigate the whitewater together. If you would rather let us do the rowing, we can bring an oar-powered raft along with room for 3-4 people (by request only).

We invite you to bring your friends, your church group, club, or the whole family for a whitewater rafting trip you'll never forget.

Please call 208-770-2517 to inquire or book this trip.

Great rafting with ROW

Great rafting with ROW on the Clark Fork. Bus driver Avery and guides Aldan, Josie, and Sage did a super job. I enjoyed the narratives of some of the history of the area. Some really fun rapids kept us cool on a hot day!

Fantastic experience

Our time with ROW was a fantastic experience. We felt well prepped for the river with both the gear and the safety talk. We were treated to some very interesting stories by our guide, Sage, and she took us safely down the river! Great food, great water, great side quests to cliffs and creeks, and just an overall perfect experience. Thanks for spending your birthday with us Sage!

Amazing

Alden our guide on the Clark Fork wad amazing along with the guides in the 4 other boats. They all were friendly, playful and educated on local history, wildlife, fauna and the river itself. Lunch and snacks were fresh and filling with plenty of water available for everyone.
