River Guide

Liz is from Indianapolis, and got her start guiding at 18 as a hiking guide in Zion National Park. Since then, she’s had many adventures across the Southwest—rafting the San Juan and Chama Rivers, backpacking through desert canyons, and always chasing that perfect sunset after a long day outside. With a bachelor’s degree in Adventure Education and a certificate in Snow and Avalanche Studies from Fort Lewis College, she brings her knowledge and love of the outdoors to every trip she’s on.

Liz’s first taste of whitewater came during a rafting trip on the American River. She then became a guide, learning to row and run multi-day trips through red rock country. Now, she's excited to join the ROW team for her first season in the PNW and is eager to explore new rivers and finally guide among big trees and cooler mountain air.

Off the river, Liz loves dancing—swing, two-step, or anything that gets people moving—and has a knack for making food with a cast iron pan. Her favorite childhood memories involve creek-stomping with her brothers in search of crawfish and pretty rocks—something that still feels a lot like what she’s doing now, just with a raft and a few more stories to tell.
