Owyhee & Bruneau River Territory Acknowledgment
We acknowledge that the land upon which we operate and enjoy the wonders of the Owyhee & Bruneau Rivers flows through the ancestral homelands of the Northern Paiute, Shoshone, and Bannock tribes. We recognize the enduring relationship that Indigenous peoples have with this land, water, and all living beings that inhabit it. As we navigate the waters of the Owyhee & Bruneau Rivers and immerse ourselves in their natural beauty, we honor the cultural heritage, traditional knowledge, and spiritual connection of the Indigenous communities whose ancestors have called this place home. We acknowledge the resilience, wisdom, and contributions of Indigenous peoples past and present and strive to uphold their values of respect, reciprocity, and stewardship.
We recognize that the Owyhee & Bruneau Rivers and their surrounding lands hold profound significance for Indigenous Peoples and commit to working collaboratively with them to protect and preserve this sacred landscape for future generations. We acknowledge the ongoing struggle for Indigenous rights, sovereignty, and self-determination and stand in solidarity with Indigenous communities in their efforts to uphold their cultural heritage and protect their ancestral lands.
