Rafting Companies Join Forces "For the Cure" of Breast Cancer!

July, 2010
Around the nation, rafting companies are fighting breast cancer with Raft for the Cure events that support the Susan G. Komen Foundation.

COEUR D'ALENE, ID, July 17, 2010 -- ROW Adventures, an Idaho-based adventure travel company, is hosting their third annual breast cancer awareness fund-raising event August 8th, 2010 on the Clark Fork River. The first two events have generated buzz and large donations for the Coeur d'Alene affiliate of Susan G. Komen for the Cure. In Spokane, Washington, ROW Adventures also hosted their first Raft for the Cure on the Spokane River in June of this year, an event that sold out in just a few weeks.

"We've been so pleased with the local reception received for a unique event like this," said Peter Grubb, founder of ROW Adventures. "It's an opportunity to float a beautiful stretch of river with friends and family, knowing that half the trip price will help fight breast cancer in our local communities. Cancer has impacted the lives of so many, it's important we all do all we can to help. I'm so happy to support these events on both the Spokane and Clark Fork rivers and look forward to do so for years to come."

ROW Adventures first received the idea of this event from their friends on the other side of the states, Class VI, a whitewater rafting company in West Virginia that has hosted a Raft for the Cure the last 10 years on the New River Gorge. Their event will be held on August 21st.

Raft for the Cure events are whitewater day trips where the companies provides all necessary gear and professional whitewater rafting guides. Some events provide lunches, t-shirts and have memorial ceremonies during the trip. The Moab Adventure Center and Western River Expeditions holds their annual Raft for the Cure on the Colorado River in June and they provide an auction, prizes and a live concert.

Other Raft for the Cure events around the nation include a trip on the Ocoee River hosted by Wildwater LTD in Tennessee on Aug 28th and the Tennessee Valley Canoe Club holds a BYO Boat event on Sequatchie River on the same day.
