Bicycle Mechanic

Summary

ROW seeks to hire an experienced bicycle mechanic to keep our bike and e-bike fleet in great working order! The Bicycle Mechanic will provide support to our bicycle tours operations by ensuring our fleet of electronic and standard bicycles is in safe, working order and trail ready.  The Bicycle Mechanic is responsible for all bike assembly, services and repairs. This position works independently and hours are flexible within a set time frame. This person will be in charge of inventory, ordering, and stocking of parts needed for maintenance. 

Description

This is a seasonal, part time, hourly wage position based in Coeur d’Alene, ID and runs from approximately early May through mid September. Approximately 8-12 hours /week as needed. 

Duties, Responsibilities, and Requirements

  • Clean and Service all bicycles after they return from a tour (Usually Thu or Fri) and before they are needed on the next tour (Depart Sun/ Mon)
  • Full working knowledge of Bicycle Mechanical Components
  • Ability to service brakes, cables and housings, hydraulics, wheels and tires, torque bolts to spec, true wheels, and service all other bicycle components
  • Ability to perform a complete and thorough safety inspection on a bicycle
  • Basic knowledge of E-Bike Specific Components and Service
  • Willingness to work late or evening hours as needed
  • Order replacement parts as needed (From JBI, QPB, or Pedego Service Dept)
  • Identify any electrical issues in the E-bike fleet and deliver these to the Pedego Store for Warranty Repairs
  • Keep the ROW Bike Repair Shop cleaned, stocked and organized. 
  • Operate within a budget
  • Communicate with bicycle guides and the ROW Operations manager as to fleet condition and issues as well as maintenance need
  • Maintain an inventory and service records of the ROW Bicycle Fleet
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

  • Legally allowed to work in the United States.
  • Previous experience as a bicycle mechanic preferred
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • Creative problem-solving skills
  • Strong communication skills
  • Ability to work independently
  • Attention to detail
  • Proficient in using hand and power tools
  • Ability to lift up to 70 lbs

Supervision 

This position reports directly to the Bike Tours Manager and the ROW Operations Manager. 

Benefits and Compensation: 

  • $24 - $28 /hr DOE
  • Ability to join a ROW Rafting or Biking trip at the start or end of the season
