Welcome to ROW Adventures and Antucamay, our riverside camp! While our daily adventures are incredible and amazing, we also pay special attention to the important details that ensure the down time between your adventures is pleasurable, comfortable and relaxing. Whether it be soothing your muscles in our wood-burning hot tub or taking a stroll on one of the paths winding through our 175 acre ranch, you are certain to find the perfect activity with which to spend your afternoons and evenings.
Luxury: There is a lot that separates us from our competition, but hands down we have the nicest accommodations on the Futaleufu. From comfortable couches and chairs that you can relax and read in by the fire, to plush beds in your private bungalows, to the hot tub, massages, hot showers and much much more. That is not even mentioning some of the best food you will ever have, prepared by our international gourmet chef. "Adventure by Day, Luxury by Night" to the fullest!
Food: "In ROWs kitchen we make sure that our guests enjoy an authentic Patagonia dining experience. We use and take advantage of what we have at hand...the freshest fruits and vegetables from our green houses and the surrounding area, meats from our neighbors' pastures, and fish from the nearby Pacific Ocean. We're sure you will enjoy dining on our famous "Rolled Lamb Roast," coated in fresh herbs and served with our "Cherries and Berries Curry Sauce," delight in our "Red Salmon Ceviche", or try our rabbit with tempura vegetables. Variations in our cuisine will partly depend on what Mother Nature is providing at the time you arrive, but she is always generous! Cheers and 'clink clink' amigos!!!!" Fabio de Luca - Patagonian Chef
Quincho: The Quincho (our circular living room with gigantic windows revealing breath taking 270 degree views) is one of the most beloved features of our camp, Antucamay. We took very special care when designing this gathering place, infusing a unique mixture of river rock and traditional native wood trim into its walls, seats and central fireplace. The Quincho serves as a wonderfully warm, comfortable, and beautiful place to gather, eat, and sip on fine Chilean wines.
Hot Tub: Outside the Quincho is our rustic 380 square meter deck lined by a beautiful, western style fence molded from the trees of Patagonia. In the center of the deck you'll find our wood- burning hot tub, where you can ease your muscles after the day's adventure. Looking past the thin veil of smoke that rises up from the soothing water, you'll enjoy 360 degree views of the Andes Mountains and Futaleufu River.
The Ranch: Antucamay's beautiful river-front property contains plenty of space on which to stroll, play, swim and relax. The grass provides an open playing field for tossing around a frisbee or kicking around a soccer ball. We provide hammocks close to the river for relaxing, and there are trails that allow you to venture out and see the 175 acres for yourself.
Private Safari Style Bungalows: Our bungalows are one of Antucamay's most distinguishing features. Inside you will find a level of comfort unmatched by any other adventure outfitter in the region. Foam pads with sleeping bags are replaced by plush beds with down comforters, feather pillows and supple sheets. Crowded spaces are replaced by bedside tables, storage areas for your personal belongings, and plenty of room to stretch your adventurous muscles. In the morning, you can slip into one of the soft organic cotton robes that are provided for your stay. Each bungalow sleeps two, perfect for couples. Singles may choose to share or reserve a private bungalow if space allows.
Full Bathrooms with Hot Showers: After a day of sweat and play, one of the best feelings in the world is a nice hot shower. Aware of this, we provide beautiful full bathrooms for our guests; complete with huge ceramic showers, beautiful sinks and large mirrors. We provide all shower necessities, including soaps, shampoos, plush towels and a warm, cozy robe. Any extra supplies you may have brought with you can be conveniently stored in the cubbies adjacent to each private shower.
Massages: Come rejuvenate your mind and body at our riverside spa. Our massage therapist conducts sessions in two rooms situated close to the rushing waters of the Futaleufu. Your senses will delight in the sounds of Patagonia coupled with therapeutic aromas and oils chosen by our professional therapist. ROW Adventures provides one complimentary 40 minute massage per guest however our masseuse is always on hand to provide a relaxing release from your days activities.
Photo or Video Service: We provide a photographer or videographer for the trip. The videographer accompanies the group on nearly all of our activities and on river days he even goes ahead in his kayak, pulls over on the side of the river by the rapids and shoots video or takes pictures. At the end of each day he spends hours on his computer editing and composing to create an incredible product for you. At the end of trip (and sometimes during the trip) we will get an evening showing of the photos or videos shot during the trip. ***This is a separate service and while we provide the photographer or videographer, if you wish to have a copy of the photos or videos, they must be purchased separately from the videographer.
Safety on the Water: We have a maximum guide to guest ratio on the Futaleufu of 4:1, however the actual number is closer to 2:1. Each raft gets it's own personal safety kayaker and there is a safety cataraft for every 2 or 3 rafts. We carry an extensive first aid kit, radios, cell phones, and our vehicle is never far away. Not to mention one of the most experienced guide teams on the river!
English Speaking Guides: Most of our guides are fluent in English (and most in Spanish too). While the importance of this for safety on the river is obvious, is also reaches into life at camp and the enjoyment of your trip. We feel our guides are pretty amazing people and getting to know them (and them you) will go a long way to creating the bond that makes this trip so special.
See More of the Futaleufu Valley: Our unique location, just two kilometers outside of Futaleufu, allows us to see more of the Futaleufu Valley. We explore 3 different rivers, 4 different "sectores", float down all, or almost all of the Futaleufu, and spend time in town. This creates a sense of place and belonging to this incredible area.
Proud Parters with Futaleufu Riverkeeper: Futaleufu RiverKeeper is a United States/Chilean conservation organization that is dedicated to helping preserve the Futaleufu watershed. The most immediate threats we face are the damming of the river (there are three proposed dams for the Futaleufu) and the opening of a silver mine in one of the nearby tributaries of the Futa. At some point during the trip we will have a representative of Futaleufu RiverKeeper come out and explain in detail the issues that we face, what is being done to stop the dams and mines, and what we can do to help.
More Money Stays in Town: ROW Adventures makes a point of buying and hiring locally. We feel that doing this not only helps the economy of the town, but it helps the image of the adventure outfitters, which will do wonders when it comes to trying to fight the proposed dams and mines in the area.
Culture: We feel that it is not just the adventures and our incredible camp that make your trip special but the culture and traditions of the area as well. We stop at the Espolon Women's Cultural Center to get a demonstration on some traditional weaving techniques that have been an integral part of Patagonian life for generations. We also partake in agro-tourism as we go to a local farm to see what campasino (farmers or those that live out in the 'country') life is like. We will have lunch with our gracious hosts and go for a tour of their farm.
Food is Locally Grown: Most of the food you will eat over the course of your trip is either grown right here on our farm, grown in a nearby valley, or bought in town. We feel this enhances your Patagonian experiences and also helps the economy of Futaleufu.
"There is one word for this trip: Amazing! Amazing facilities, amazing area, amazing whitewater and last but not least, amazing guides, who were professional, friendly, and most of all made us feel safe even running class V whitewater! I would recommend this trip to anyone who wants an adventure while being pampered at the same time." -Deb Scisco, Owner of Outdoor Beyond, Adventure and Expedition Travel for Women
