Cayla Sanderson

River Guide

Guide since 2014; ID, MT, OR. Joined ROW in 2014. Born and raised in the small town of Page, Arizona Cayla had no choice but to love the outdoors. Her family spent many summers on the Colorado River and Lake Powell, enjoying water sports and camping trips. After completing her bachelor's degree in Geography at Portland State University, Cayla went on to work as a River Jester for ROW Adventures in 2014. She soon became one of the white water guides, guiding on the Salmon, Snake, Rogue, Clark Fork, Missouri and Moyie Rivers. Being able to show others the true raw beauty of nature is what she lives for as a guide. When Cayla is not rafting, she is exploring the world through hiking, camping, climbing, painting and simply geeking out on life!

Julia Hatch

River Guide

Guide since 2011: NY, ID, MT. Joined ROW in 2014. After completing her Bachelor’s degree at Geneseo State University in Elementary and Special Education, Julia Hatch took a trip to Denali National Park. At the time, she was enrolled to attend graduate school but realized that she “thirsted for more adventure than that path would provide.” Julia grew up in Upstate New York and started to explore the outdoors with her family at a young age, so rafting was right up her alley. Since becoming a whitewater rafting guide, Julia feels more fulfilled and at peace than she ever has—this is usually reflected by her disarming smile. Her mantra? “I look for the joy in every day and aim to spread positive energy wherever I go.” When not guiding for ROW, Julia teaches at a Montessori School in Montana, and enjoys hiking, camping, cooking, and writing postcards to friends and family.

Britt Thiessen

River Guide

Guide since 2010: CA, ID. Joined ROW in 2013. Ever since watching sturgeon swim around at Clear Creek Hatchery with his grandpa as a child, Britt has been infatuated by rivers. Britt moved to Idaho when he was two years old and considers it his home. He began rafting almost by chance, when the carpentry crew he worked with would take breaks on hot days and weekends to raft the Murtaugh stretch of the Snake River. Britt was hooked from his first wave and now seeks out steep gradient, good flow, obstructions, and constrictions… whitewater! During the summer, Britt uses his skills as a Certified Interpretive Guide and a River Rescue Instructor on the rivers of Idaho. He seeks thrill and excitement, and can often be seen at the back of the boat taking splashes to the face, all while maintaining a big smile. In the off season, he travels and works at a ski resort in Big Sky, Montana.

Angie Fuhrmann

River Guide

Guide since 2011: CO, UT, OR. Joined ROW in 2013. Angie Fuhrmann began her nomadic lifestyle at two weeks old, moving from her birth state, Nevada, to Wyoming, South Dakota, Nebraska, and eventually Arizona by the time she finished high school. After completing her bachelor's degree at Northern Arizona University, she attended Colorado State University and earned a Master's in Anthropology. While in college she worked as a hiking guide at Grand Canyon and discovered her passion for sharing the outdoors with others. Not long after, she discovered rafting and traded in her hiking boots for river sandals to become a raft guide. After a rafting trip in Oregon, Angie was drawn to the beauty of the Northwest. She did a short stint with a county health department before returning to river guiding with ROW on the Rogue River. When not on the river, she is usually found wandering in the woods hunting for edible mushrooms or traveling in Latin America. In the off-season, Angie teaches anthropology courses for an online university and has led gap-year adventure programs for young adults. She recently founded and runs a successful gourmet mushroom company with her partner, Grant.
