North Carolina native Drew Hoag only intended to do guiding as a short-term gig after finishing college. But his passion for the river took over and he has since explored waterways in Colorado, Oregon, and Idaho. One of Drew’s favorite childhood memories took place on Quebec’s Bonaventure River when he pierced his dad’s ear with a salmon fly and had to navigate French road signs in search of medical assistance. Over the years, he has tackled the rainforested rivers of Queensland, Australia and dove with dozens of bull sharks in Fiji. Drew holds a Bachelor of Environmental Science from the University of North Carolina and has worked as a Desert Tortoise Biologist in the Mojave Desert for the last two years. When he’s not on the river, you’ll find Drew enjoying the outdoors with family and friends.
