Explore the Rails-to-Trails of the Pacific Northwest!

ROW's biking division, Ride Our World, is proud to offer three distinct itineraries in two different parts of the Pacific Northwest. These rides take advantage of several delightful rails-to-trails that keep cars and bicycles separated as much as possible. Rails-to-trails are conversions of abandoned railroad lines into trails designed for non-motorized recreation. The first conversion in the U.S. was in 1967 and today the U.S. boasts an extensive system of these trails around the country. Converted railroad beds are ideal for cycling tours as they have minimal elevation gain or loss. In addition, they often follow rivers, lakeshores and pass through some of the world’s most dramatic scenery.  Some are also engineering wonders, with tunnels and trestles originally built to cross rugged landscapes. Our biking tours are lodge-based and designed with hand-picked local accommodations. We also carefully choose locally-owned restaurants that feature the best of Pacific Northwest cuisine.

Near our headquarters in Coeur d’Alene, we are lucky to have some of the best rails-to-trails in the nation including two that are in the Rails-to-Trails Conservancy Hall of Fame!  These are the Trail of the Coeur d’Alenes and the legendary Route of the Hiawatha.  Our three-state cycling tours take place on these two trails as well as the Washington/Idaho Centennial Trail and the Route of the Olympian.  We have bases in both Spokane and Coeur d’Alene and as a local company you benefit from both our extensive knowledge of the area, as well as our local guides. We offer both a regular bike tour and an E-bike tour for this North Idaho cycling itinerary.

Our other Pacific Northwest cycling adventure is an E-bike tour to explore the Olympic Peninsula of Washington State. Utilizing a mix of dirt roads and rail trails, we also include some easy hikes in areas such as the magical Hoh rainforest and spectacular Hurricane Ridge. We stay in a variety of lodges along the way, including at least two historic National Park lodges.  This fantastic cycling tour starts and ends in Seattle making for easy access by road, train or air.

We believe bike tours should have the least possible amount of driving, while also highlighting the most scenic sections of trail. Carefully crafted, and led by our professional, enthusiastic and talented guides, we orchestrate our cycling tours to give you a life-enriching immersion into the landscape of these areas while sharing local history, culture and culinary delights. Come join us for laughter, discovery, and learning!
