Salmon river fly fishing on the Middle Fork of the Salmon River is a truly legendary fly fishing trip. Idaho's Middle Fork has been called the greatest Westslope Cutthroat fishery in the United Sates. Originating 20 miles northwest of Stanley, Idaho, the Middle Fork of the Salmon River flows 106 miles through one of America's premier Blue Ribbon fisheries before flowing into the Main Salmon River. This is one of the finest wilderness fly fishing trips in the country, and ROW's experienced guides will help you catch your fill of wild Idaho trout. Fish generally range from 10” to 22”. The uniquely remote nature of a trip such as this ensures that you have the chance to throw your fly at fish that have never seen an artificial presentation.

Trips typically begin toward the end of July, depending on water levels, and end in late September. All of our fly fishing is done from either aluminum drift boats or whitewater rafts that have been specially equipped with fly fishing frames. The Middle Fork of the Salmon is a "Wild and Scenic" river and protected by the U.S. Congress, which means the entire river is catch-and-release. Fly fishing this river with dry flies produces outstanding top-water action and high fish counts.
There's more to the Middle Fork of the Salmon River than just fly fishing. As we float the river, we'll rest at beautiful, isolated camping spots. There are plenty of hiking trails, natural hot springs and cultural sites along this stretch of river. We can hike from camp and fish, visit a Native American pictograph site or pioneer homestead, or we can just relax and rest up for the following day of fly fishing.
