Susan G. Komen fought breast cancer with her heart, body and soul. Throughout her diagnosis, treatments, and endless days in the hospital, she spent her time thinking of ways to make life better for other women battling breast cancer instead of worrying about her own situation. Moved by Susan’s compassion for others, Nancy G. Brinker promised her sister that she would do everything in her power to end breast cancer forever. Thus began Susan G. Komen For The Cure. In 2008, ROW Adventures held a "Raft for the Cure-Coeur d'Alene" event in their honor that raised over $5,000.

Dr. Anne C. Fox-Clarkson, who was an elementary school principal in Coeur d'Alene, ID, founded the Children's Village, Inc. In 1983, Dr. Fox-Clarkson made a promise to a brother and sister that she would build them a home, as they had suffered child abuse. Two parents from her school agreed to help her, Carol Rankin and Kathy Curran. With the wonderful support of many volunteers and businesses, the 15 acres were purchased and two homes were built. The Mission of the Children's Village is to care for, advocate and provide a safe, loving, nurturing and healing home for children. Those children, ages birth to age 18, who have been abused, neglected, homeless, or are in severe family crisis may be served. |

Center for Justice is a gathering of dedicated attorneys, paralegals, legal interns, and others who — along with volunteers from local high schools, colleges, universities, and the community — believe that justice truly is for all. Through legal advocacy for people and issues others cannot or will not take on, we seek to foster dignity for everyone. Our work encourages right relationships between citizens and their government, between environmental and economic health, and among all our community’s citizens. |
