Patagonia Tour - Small Ship Adventure Itinerary
4 day Ushuaia to Punta Arenas
Day 1 – Ushuaia On your Patagonia tour, our first stop will be to check in at San Martin 245, Ushuaia around 9:00 in the morning to 4:00 in the afternoon. We will be welcomed aboard around 6:00 to 7:00 in the evening with a cocktail party. Right after that, the small cruise ship will depart for your most unforgettable Patagonia tour journey. During the tour, the ship will pass through the Beagle Channel as well as the Strait of Magellan to discover the hidden wonders of the most fascinating wilderness in the world – the Tierra del Fuego and Southern Patagonia. Welcome aboard on a Great Adventure! Day 2 – Cape Horn – Wulaia Bay The second day of the Patagonia tour will be as exciting and interesting as day one’s tour. As we sail, we will pass through the Murray and Beagle channels. Our destination will be the Cape Horn National Park where we will land if permitted by a pleasant weather. The cape is 425 meters high (1,394 feet) and is a steep, rocky peninsula known in the past as the only route to enter the Pacific Ocean. The small ship cruise will take you literally to the “end of the earth." In June 2005, the park was proclaimed as UNESCO’s World Biosphere Reserve. Reaching the historical site of Wulaia Bay will be our goal in the afternoon. This place was once the largest settlement of the region’s Yamana aborigines. Its rich past includes Charles Darwin's landing in the area on 23rd of January, 1833 in the voyage of HMS Beagle. Aside from its rich cultural history, the place is also famous for its enchanting foliage and natural features. We will be able to walk through vast expanse of Magellanic forests carpeted with Canelos, Coihes, Lengas, ferns and other fascinating native flora. Day 3 – Piloto and Nena Glaciers In the morning of the third day of the tour, we will pass through the isolated channels of Brecknock and Ocasion so we could reach the Cockburn channel by afternoon. With full stomachs, after lunch we will be arriving at Chico Sound where we will disembark in Zodiac boats to have a chance of exploring the Alakaluf Fjord. We will get a glimpse of the striking waterfalls as well as the Piloto and Nena glaciers from the sea. At the same time we will discover how the glaciers form and their influence in the natural features of the region’s channels. Day 4 – Magdalena Island – Punta Arenas We will greet the morning sun by going ashore to Magdalena Island (if the weather permits it). Located in the Magellan Strait, the island played a significant role for explorers and navigators of the past as a constant source of supplies and food. The most notable structure on the island is the lighthouse which guides the ships that pass the strait. On our way to the lighthouse, we will be greeted by unbelievably vast colony of Magellanic Penguins. During April and September, instead of a trip to the Magdalena Island, the cruise will take us to a Zodiac boat ride at Isla Marta to observe the sea lions. After the island visit, the last stop will be at Punta Arenas where we will land at around 11:30 in the morning.

The first day of the 5 day Patagonia tour itinerary is similar to day four in the the 4 day itinerary above.
Day 2 – Ainsworth Bay - Tuckers Islets
At dawn on the second day of your Patagonia tour, we will continue sailing to Ainsworth Bay passing through Almirantazgo Sound. At Ainsworth Bay, we will be exploring the wonders inside the Alberto De Agostini National Park. We will also have a glimpse of the Marinelli Glacier which originated from the Darwin Mountain Range as well as understand how nature continues to propagate after ice melts. A beaver dam is located at the fantastic wilderness of the subpolar Magellanic forests where we can take a walk and marvel at its diversity. If we get lucky, we might even have sightings of the elephant seals if the colony is present in the coastal area. After scouring the area, we will set sail again and head to Tuckers Islets. After having lunch, it is time to board the Zodiac boats to see Cormorants and the Magellanic Penguins which can only be found in the Southern Hemisphere. This trip is however replaced by a trip to Brookes Bay where we will disembark and to wander the area to discover a glacier.
Day 3 – Pia Glacier - Glacier Alley
The third day signals the start of our trip to reach the Pia Fjord along the main part of the Beagle Channel. We will land somewhere near the Pia Glacier where we take a short hike to look for the look-up point that will give us a magnificent view of the glacier from the high mountain peaks down to the sparkling seas. After relishing the exceptional beauty of the panorama, next in our list will be sailing northwest of the Beagle Channel passing through the marvelous “Glacier Alley”.
