Responsibilities:  Drivers are under the supervision of either the Operations Manager, or the Area Manager.  In addition to driving the bus, there are numerous other responsibilities associated with this position, as follows:

1) Responsible for load being safely secured and road-worthy.  Does final check on load before any departures, such as morning load up, lunch stop, take-out loading, etc.  This will be a visible inspection, systematic in approach and will use a form provided by ROW.

2) Drive guides and guests to/from various river put-in (launch) and take-out points.  May occasionally drive to regional airports for guest pick ups or drop offs directly related to their river trip with ROW.

3) Will clean interior and exterior of bus on a daily basis, paying particular attention to keeping windows clean at all times.

4) Is responsible for making sure bus has been fueled, oiled and inspected before departure time.

5) Visually inspect bus on a daily basis, for any needed repairs or maintenance.  To the extent that the driver is able, make small repairs.  Will record any such repairs in the driver log provided by ROW that is in a binder on the vehicle.

6) Responsible for getting bus to a mechanic for any maintenance needed, and having this done (scheduled) when bus is not needed, to the extent possible.  Will need to work with area manager closely for this sort of coordination.  Buses operating on dirt roads should be lubed at least once monthly.  Area manager will provide a lube gun for this purpose.

7) Will help with organization at end of day directing guests, having tarps on the ground ready for rafts, straps on the roof or trailer ready, and any other duties specified that will help expedite the loading of the bus at the river take-out point.

8) Will communicate with the area manager about any problems that may arise including any cooperation issues with other guides, problems that may be the result of guides not fulfilling their duties as these relate or interfere with safe or efficient fulfillment of bus driver duties.

9) Is responsible for providing superlative guest service with a “can do” attitude. To interact with and respond to ROW employees and guests in a professional, helpful manner.   To be a team player.

10) Will wear a ROW t-shirt (supplied by ROW) whenever driving with guests.  Will be neatly groomed and represent ROW in a professional manner at all times.

11) Will not smoke while inside any ROW vehicle with ROW staff or guests.  At any ROW warehouse or outpost location, will not leave cigarette butts on the ground, but dispose of them properly.
