With a fully stocked bar and variety of card games available in the lounge, you can relax and unwind after a day of adventure just the way you want.
Other fabulous onboard facilities include an exercise room, ship store, massage parlor, sauna and pool. Then of course there's the great dining offered up in our superb dining room. An expert and professional staff member is always at the ready to tend to any need.
Comfort and Stability
As it was originally crafted as a research vessel hailing from Finland, the Akademik Sergey Vavilov is a very graceful, peaceful and accommodating ship. You'll marvel at how quietly and smoothly she sails and appreciate the transformation she's undergone in order to shift her focus from science to adventure.
The last thing you'll want when you're trying to enjoy an Antarctic cruise is a rocky and noisy ship; such things are unheard of on the Voyager thanks to her clever design. A ballast trimming system ensures that sea sickness is kept to a minimum, while noisy engines are situated far out of earshot.
The Akademik Sergey Vavilov is up-to-date will all current certifications required by maritime law. With an ice-strengthened hull and tough overall design, the Voyager is well prepared for the potential perils of polar exploration. In addition, the ship is powered by a well-qualified crew and captain for each and every sail.
All safety equipment onboard is regularly and thoroughly examined. Passenger lifeboat drills are mandatory and occur before we leave port.
The Akademik Sergey Vavilov is a very maneuverable vessel, able to wind its way through the icy waters with ease. With a built-in propulsion backup and a cruising speed of 14.5 knots, the Voyager's not only got your fun needs covered, but your safety needs as well. All you have to do is sit back, relax and enjoy the ride!
It wouldn't be a complete cruise without the comfort of your favorite drinks. The Akademik Sergey Vavilov's easily accessible bar, situated on Deck 6, provides not only the finest brews and liquors, but stunning panorama views of your cruise surroundings.
Non-alcoholic beverages are also on hand, making this the perfect happy hangout for all.
The vessel bridge can be found on Deck 6 and is open to all (nearly) 24 hours a day. Here is where you can witness the chartering of the ship for yourself! Officers and helmsman will be on duty to answer any questions, making it an educational excursion for the whole family. The views are pretty unbeatable, too!
Why not pay a visit to pick up a guidebook and pair of binoculars and go wild?
The Akademik Sergey Vavilov comes equipped with all necessary communications and navigation devices and equipment. A satellite system is in place for phone calls and personal email use, so even though you'll be miles away from everyday life, you won't have to leave it behind entirely!
It is here that you will fuel your Antarctic adventures. Pleasantly lit, comfortably furnished and big enough to accommodate everyone on board, the Akademik Sergey Vavilov's dining area offers a mix of buffet and sit-down dining experiences. Every meal served is of premier taste, quality and freshness, and you'll never have to miss a moment of what's going on thanks to the screens that are equipped to stream views from the outside.
The ship's elevator services Decks 1 through 5, making getting around a breeze for disabled (or weary) guests. The only parts of the boat not accessible by elevator are the bar and bridge on Deck 6. The main deck, which services the zodiacs and more, is located on Deck 3.
Want to pick up a little something to remember your cruise by? Whether you're shopping for coworkers, grandkids or for yourself, our onboard shop is sure to have the souvenir you're looking for. Also in stock are travel essentials and grab 'n go goodies. The store can be opened at any time for your shopping pleasure.
Fitness & Fitness Room
Just because you're on vacation doesn't mean your exercise routine should fall by the wayside. Available for your use are a variety of strength and cardio machines as well as balls and mats for the yoga inclined.
There are so many ways to relax and unwind onboard after a long day of adventure! Whether you choose to treat yourself to a massage, a personal training session, a soak in the sauna or a dip in the jacuzzi, the One Ocean Voyager has the rejuvenation of your mind and body covered!
If you're feeling a little under the weather, a visit to the ship's infirmary on Deck 5 will have you back up on your feet in no time. An English speaking emergency medical professional is aboard every voyage. Please note that advice/medications received at the infirmary will be billed at additional cost.
The Voyager's library is situated on Deck 5 and contains the most wonderful forward viewing glass windows. Snuggle up with a good book and great view and learn about what makes the surrounding area so enchanting. It's an excellent place to host a meeting or informative lecture with its large slide screen and whiteboard.
Adjacent to the bar located on Deck 6, the lounge serves as both an area to gather and a place to decompress, depending on the current schedule. Just outside is an expansive seating area where you can drink in views of the majesty that surrounds you. Settle in with a coffee and blanket, and later join some friends back inside for a card game or cocktail.
When taking on a continent as epic as Antarctica, there's always plenty of gear to go along with it. Rather than having this gear take up valuable space in your cabin, a passenger mud room is provided for all your storing needs. It's particularly handy when it comes to bulky or wet items. The mud room is conveniently located on the main deck, making it super easy to get outfitted for all your incoming and outgoing adventures.
Our presentation area is based on Deck 1, the steadiest deck on our ship. With theater style seats and an advanced multimedia player, the presentation room makes any meeting both an enjoyable and comfortable one.
Sauna, Hot Water Spa and Polar Salt Water Plunge Pool
After a chilly Christmas day out in awesome Antarctica, a soak in our steamy sauna or bubbling hot tub is sure to be pure bliss. Situated on Deck 5, the Voyager's sauna and neighboring plunge pool and spa are open for your leisure every afternoon and evening. If you'd like to channel your inner polar bear, the plunge pool can be filled with outside water upon request.
Hot showers and fluffy towels are ready when you are.
Top Deck and Observatory
The top deck is the ultimate place to take in mind-boggling views as far as the eye can see. With scenery this gorgeous, you're sure to pay multiple visits to the ship's highest level. Use the provided scope to discover faraway secrets, or simply lie back and refresh yourself with a complimentary hot drink as remarkable splendor passes us by.
You don't have to wait until the end of your trip to begin going through and organizing your arsenal of incredible photos! Mac computers updated with the latest software, external hard drives, camera cables and a battery recharging station are available for all your picture management needs. Burn a DVD for a gift or special keepsake, or print out high quality, glossy copies of your favorite Antarctic memories. All this and more can be done conveniently from the ship's multimedia room.
