Enjoy the sunny splendor of the colorful Provence region and the Canal du Midi on a barge trip in Southern France. From medieval towns to open-air markets and Gothic cathedrals, you haven't experienced quality of life until you experience a barge cruise that visits Camargue, Carcassonne, Avignon, Arles and Aigues-Mortes.

Canal du Midi : Beziers to Carcassonne

Clair de Lune:
100 feet in length, the Clair de Lune is generously proportioned to accommodate six guests in three spacious cabins. On the Beziers to Carcassonne route, you'll visit Oppidum d'Enserune, a 2,000 year old archeological city-site built upon a high hilltop. We'll also stop off in Capestang, Argeliers, Quarante, Minerve, Narbonne and visit the open-air street market in Olonzac. The trip ends in Carcassonne, an impressive city with double walls, 52 towers and a Romanesque and Gothic Cathedral with 13th century rose windows.
Provence & Camargue, Avignon & Arles
Le Phenicien:
A 127' long, the Phenicien was specifically built for river cruising. She carries up to 18 people in nine cabins. Begin in Avignon traveling to Vallebregues with wine tasting at Chateauneuf du Pape. See the Pont du Gard and Les Baux de Provence and visit Arles, Bellegarde, Saint Gilles and the Camargue and the walled town of Aigues Mortes.

Roi Soleil:
The Roi Soleil the largest ship on the Canal du Midi. The 98 foot barge with two stories can accommodate six passengers in three cabins. On the Canal du Midi trip, you'll drift through Languedoc and visit the Narbonne, the first Roman colony in the Gaules. The Greco-Iberian Opidum of Ensérune is another highlight of this barge trip, as is Minervois, Carcassonne and the detailed architecture of Fontfroide, a Cistercian abbey.
Camargue : Beaucaire to Sète
Saroche:
The Saroche has three spacious double cabins and room for six passengers. Barge cruises are available from April through October. This barge trip will take you to Avignon and the Palace of the Popes, and the famous Pont d'Avignon. You'll also visit Arles and cruise through the reed beds of the Camargue. This picturesque barge trip also visits Aigues-Mortes, the jewel of the Camargue, which was built by Louis IV as a departure port for his Crusades. We'll stop to explore the vineyards of Châteauneuf du Pape, the 2,000 year old Roman aqueduct at Pont du Gard, and the cathedral at Maguelone. This barge trip in Southern France ends at the medieval Port of Sète, France's second largest sea port, after a stop at Saintes Maries-de-la-Mer.
