Idaho Whitewater Rafting

PDF Print E-mail

Since 1980 ROW Adventures has been guiding Idaho whitewater rafting trips. Peter Grubb, our founder, started the company in California in 1979 and quickly moved operations to Idaho where whitewater rafting was in its infancy. The State of Idaho has more than 3,500 whitewater river miles and ROW Adventures operates rafting trips on more than any other outfitter. ROW guides guests on more than a dozen stretches of whitewater river in Idaho, with multi-day and single day whitewater rafting trips to choose from.

We've grown as a company throughout the years but maintain the same level of service on all of our Idaho whitewater rafting trips. ROW has a trip for nearly every age group and intensity level. If you've never been whitewater rafting, or are an expert, Idaho has a whitewater adventure for you.

The majority of whitewater rivers in Idaho are free-flowing and fed my winter run-off. This means the Idaho whitewater rafting season starts early, typically in mid-May. Yes, the water is cold, but the whitewater action is incredible and ROW provides nearly all of the gear you need to be comfortable. Wetsuits, fleece tops, splash jackets and neoprene booties are provided on most of the early season Idaho whitewater rafting adventures. And, depending on the trip, ROW provides lunch or three meals per day.

If you're considering visiting Idaho, we highly recommend you get in on some of the many available miles of whitewater rafting. Some of the Idaho whitewater rafting options offered by ROW:

Southern Idaho

Bruneau and Jarbidge Rivers:
Multi-day whitewater rafting wilderness trip on one of Idaho's most scenic desert rivers. Early season departures only.

Owyhee and Lower Owyhee River:
This desert river starts in Idaho before winding into Oregon. Early season, scenic desert canyons and remote wilderness whitewater rafting.

Central Idaho

Middle Fork of the Salmon River:
Idaho whitewater rafting at its best. The Middle Fork is a classic stretch of whitewater river for good reason. ROW's multi-day wilderness trips depart throughout the summer. Fly fishing trips also available.

Snake River in Hells Canyon:
Idaho whitewater rafting through the deepest river gorge in North America. Multi-day wilderness rafting trips. Stunning scenery, exciting whitewater.

North Idaho

Moyie River:
Lesser known whitewater river, but a fun early season day trip. Nice scenery, short drive, and good Idaho whitewater rafting.

St. Joe River:
Float the scenic St. Joe. A great Idaho whitewater rafting day trip. Early season to mid-July.

Idaho Family Rafting

Family Magic Rafting:
One of ROW's signature trips. These Idaho whitewater rafting trips cascade down 60 miles of intermediate whitewater. Family Magic trips are for families only! Trips depart all season.

Middle Fork of the Clearwater River:
This is a great all-season Idaho rafting trip for families. Beginner whitewater and perfect for inflatable kayaks.
